Manufacturing PMI falls to nine month low in August
India's manufacturing sector expanded at its slowest pace this year in August, amid weak demand from Europe and output disruptions caused by power failures, a private survey showed on Monday. The seasonally adjusted HSBC Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) posted a reading of 52.8 in August, slightly lower than July's 52.9. A reading of 50 separates growth from contraction. The index, compiled by Markit, is designed to measure the overall health of the manufacturing sector.
