There is nothing like a yatra to experience the sheer energy and political theatre in India. Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s Swami Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra is no exception, it would seem, going by the media reports since Tuesday. My own experiences of political yatras are from the 1990s with LK Advani’s famous Rath Yatra most prominent in my memory. In a State where the BJP never had any significant political presence I was amazed at the crowds he drew alongside National Highway 9 in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh.
