Ajit Pawar quits over irrigation scam, plunges Maharashtra into political turmoil

Deputy chief minister of Maharashtra and NCP leader Ajit Pawar resigned from the Democratic Front government on Tuesday evening, in a dramatic development which brought to the fore his party's simmering tension with Congress but which should not lead to a life-threatening crisis to the coalition, at least not in the near run.
