It’s hic hic hurray in Kerala

Is toddy, Kerala’s unique, natural light-intoxicating liquor extracted from coconut trees and other palm trees like the palmyra, a social evil that should be totally banned, more so when the Government itself is selling industrially produced hard drinks under the category of India-made foreign liquor worth a minimum of Rs 7,000 crore a year? Should toddy (kallu in Malayalam) be banned because the retail outlets where they are sold bear a rustic look with thatched roofs and where working class people clad in mundu (dhoti) frequent?
