President dominates a Lok Sabha bypoll
The October 10 Lok Sabha by-election in Jangipur in West Bengal ‘s Murshidabad district is significant for at least two reasons. It is for the seat vacated by the man who became President, and which his son now seeks to occupy. And because this is the first electoral test for the Congress after it unleashed the spurt of reforms that provoked Mamata Banerjee to walk out of the UPA and threaten a no-confidence motion against the government.
