Guj mayor’s quit threat, BJP tilt give Cong jitters

In a big jolt to the Congress on the eve of the Assembly elections, its Mayor of the newly-formed Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) has threatened to quit the party and join the ruling BJP. The Corporation in the State Capital Gandhinagar is one of the only two municipal bodies in control of the Congress which is out of power in the state for 17 years now. Other six corporations in the state are held by the BJP for decades.
