Spectrum auction flops, raises just Rs 9,400 crore

The government's plan to rake in Rs 40,000 crore from the sale of spectrum for 2G mobile services suffered a major blow on Wednesday, with the sale process generating a disappointing Rs 9,400 crore with no takers for key circles including Delhi, Mumbai, Karnataka and Rajasthan.
