Logistics may dash Sonia dream

The concerned departments in Government may have pulled up their socks to roll out the UPA-II’s gamechanger poll plank direct cash transfer (DCT) in 51 districts by January 1. But that’s a desperate move by the Government as UIDAI is finding it tough to put even its front-end functions (enrolment and delivery of Aadhaar) in place, while the rollout of DCT will require a back-end system linked to Aadhaar (like digitisation of beneficiary data and integration of Aadhaar with bank accounts).
