Routed in Gujarat, Congress still claims it’s a victory

Even as it was left licking its wounds, Congress spin doctors went into overdrive, claiming that the Gujarat verdict was actually a 'victory' for the party as the BJP's tally had dropped by two seats from the 2007 tally of 117, compared to predictions of a two-thirds majority. Most analysts, though, weren't buying this and said the message was clear: Gujarat would back Modi's bid to become prime minister in 2014.
