Government sleeps on police reforms

The recent gangrape and brutal assault of a 23-year-old girl in a moving bus in Delhi, resulting in her tragic death, has yet again underscored the failure of the successive governments to implement long-pending police reforms. The gruesome incident that provoked a series of protests in the capital and elsewhere in the country has highlighted the need for a larger, better equipped and more sensitive police force.
