SC upholds Mehta as Guj Lokayukta, but snubs Governor

Ending the tussle between the Gujarat Government and the State Governor over the appointment of State Lokayukta, the Supreme Court on Wednesday approved the name of Justice RA Mehta for the post, but snubbed Governor Kamla Beniwal for pursuing an unconstitutional course of action in bypassing the Council of Ministers before finalising the name.
