HC slams cops over use of section 144

Frowning at the frequent use of preventive section 144 of the CrPC, the Delhi high court on Wednesday questioned the Delhi Police for imposing it at India Gate. "Instead of imposing 144 CrPC you must maintain law and order. It can't be used just like that," a bench of Chief Justice D Murugesan and Justice VK Jain observed, chiding the police for imposing the section so often.
