Another telecom tangle
The government is setting itself up for a string of lawsuits with telecom companies. According to news reports, the empowered group of ministers (eGoM) has recommended a cut of up to 50% in the reserve price for spectrum in the 800 megahertz (MHz) band, which is used by CDMA service providers. This goes against the proposals made by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) with respect to the relative pricing of 800 MHz spectrum and 900 MHz spectrum.
