Nothing mitigates rape and murder crimes

In a recent verdict, the Supreme Court on shockingly flimsy grounds set aside the death sentence awarded by a lower court and upheld by the High Court, to an accused in a murder and rape case. On September 10, 2007, Sandesh alias Sainath Kailas walked into a flat in Pune on the pretext of repairing a car puncture and robbed the two lady occupants of cash and other valuables.
