Unhappy with the probes carried out by police in cases involving Maoists cadres, the Centre wants specialised investigators to handle them. In a move that could snowball into another face-off between the Centre and the states, the ministry of home affairs (MHA) has suggested to Naxal-hit states that such probes should not be carried out by officers at the police station level.
