Telangana: Simmer, stir and wait

Talk is cheap when it comes to Telangana. Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said on December 28 that a decision on separate statehood would be made in a month's time. On Sunday, the government put off that decision again, saying "consultations with all three regions" of Andhra Pradesh were needed before a final call. The Congress has perfected the routine now — making a promise and then jerking away at the last moment, intensifying the region's resentments.
