Shackling IIMs

The proposals set out in the first draft of the IIM Bill, currently being hammered out by the government, are ominous for the premier management institutes. While the final contours of the Bill are under discussion, the contentious proposal to form an apex council — headed by the HRD ministry — to manage the 13 IIMs has understandably raised hackles among faculty and alumni.
