It's time VIP politicians woke up to India`s dismal police-to-population ratio. If protecting citizens seems a tall order, blame our politicians' skewed priorities. According to the home ministry`s bureau of police research and development, India's police-to-population ratio works out to one cop for 761 citizens while three policemen guard one VIP. Incredibly, 47,557 cops cater to 14,842 VIPs across India, even as a northbound crime graph increasingly threatens the lives of ordinary people.
