Westland set aside Rs270-cr payoff for deal

AgustaWestland had set aside Rs270 crore for pay-off to clinch the Rs3,700 crore chopper deal from India, and its bosses used a network of middlemen to grease palms of those in a position to influence the contract. The middlemen have told the Italian investigators that former IAF chief SP Tyagi used to brief them about developments in the tender process during their meetings, according to the report of the Italian investigators.
