IIPM case highlights the inept way information is blocked online

A partner of the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) got an interim injunction from a Gwalior court to block 73 webpages that contained allegedly defamatory material. The Department of Telecom, obeying the orders, blocked news articles that referred to IIPM, blogs, posts from online satirical magazines, even a public notice that said IIPM was not recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
