Moody's blues: UK ratings downgrade

George Osborne cannot have it both ways about the downgrading by Moody's of the UK's government bond rating. Less than three months before he became chancellor, Mr Osborne said in his Mais lecture that Britain had to move to a new model of economic growth in order to avoid the peril of the downgrading of the UK economy by the credit rating agencies.
