Terror fight must co-exist with federalism, says BJP

Even as home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde stepped up efforts to get political backing for the proposed counter-terror platform NCTC, BJP has indicated that its support for the body will be contingent on an agreement not to tamper with the operational powers - the powers of search, seizure and arrest - of the state governments. Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley, who repeated his party's complaints with the agency's architecture, also said the proposed organisation should be kept outside IB.
