FM fails to push reform agenda
Given his reputation, Mr Chidambaram had raised high expectations. Faced with an economic slowdown, bad both for the economy as also for UPA's electoral prospects, he was indeed brought in to handle a tough situation. He could have used his reputation and the common perception that the country is faced with a significant economic crisis to strike out boldly and push the reform agenda. His preamble to the Budget proposals raised those hopes.
