Praising budget, Nitish fuels talk of political realignment

Bihar Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday heaped praise on the Union Budget, fuelling speculation on whether the remarks were a portend of a future tie-up with the Congress. In an article for this paper Mr Kumar, whose Janata Dal (United) has governed Bihar since 2005 in an alliance with the BJP, praised Mr Chidambaram for agreeing to reconsider criteria for conferring so-called 'special category' on states.
