Declining telecom fortunes

There can be no better indicator of the state of India’s telecom industry than the results of the last two rounds of spectrum auctions, starting with the one in November and the latest virtual non-event on Monday. On both occasions, not only were there no takers for a pan-India licence, the auction bids did not exceed the reserve price even in markets where there was some interest at all.
