India blinks first, Italy stands firm

India’s ‘Italian dilemma’ came to the fore on Saturday, notwithstanding its seemingly aggressive posturing over the Marines’ issue. In what clearly indicated New Delhi’s dithering, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid maintained action against Italy would have to be considered keeping the implications, such as economic ties, in mind.
