Balance is tilting against UPA after the DMK pullout

The Congress-led UPA-2 is facing another threat to its survival. After dithering for long, the DMK, with 18 MPs in the Lok Sabha and five ministers in the Union cabinet, finally indicated today that it is willing to pull the plug on the ruling coalition at the Centre. It comes exactly six months after another Congress ally, Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress, with 19 Lok Sabha MPs, had severed ties with the UPA.
