Political opinion swings away from Sanjay Dutt

The weight of political opinion on whether or not film star Sanjay Dutt should be granted a gubernatorial pardon after his conviction in the Mumbai blasts case appeared shifting against the actor on Monday after a parade of parties opposed any such move.The latest to join the camp of those opposing a pardon for Dutt, an idea first mooted last week by the chairman of the Press Council of India Markandeya Katju, was the Shiv Sena, a party that had been instrumental in getting him bail in 1995 when it was in power in Maharashtra.
