Since, ancient times India has been described by various foreign travellers as a land of prosperity, harmony and honesty. Even travellers from China-a civilization as great and ancient as India itself- were deeply impressed by the integrity, honesty and prosperity of the Indians. The efficient and clean political system of the Maurayans, Guptas, Cholas, Kakatiya, Chalukyas, Vijayanagar evoked both admiration and envy among the people from foreign countries.
