Jio & let live! Now, share spectrum

The pact between Reliance Jio and Reliance Infocomm grabs attention primarily because of the fraternal frisson it entails. The telecom bit is not anything substantive: sharing of passive infrastructure of an abundant kind, optical fibre, for a paltry 1,200 crore that Reliance Infocomm's creditors can put away without missing halfa pang. Things will turn interesting if policy permits the two companies to share active infrastructure, read spectrum. If and when that happens, telecom will surelybegin to buzz again.
