The telecom tango

The agreement inked by Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio Infocomm with the Anil Ambani-controlled Reliance Communications, to use the latter’s fibre optic network for its proposed 4G telecom venture, has significance beyond just suggesting an impending patch-up between two estranged brothers. What the deal has done is to expand the sharing among players in India of telecom infrastructure, hitherto confined to mobile towers, to cover an even more significant realm of optic fibre cable transmission systems.
