Healthcare needs intensive care, not a quick fix

If there is one message from the Supreme Court verdict on Novartis, it is this: India needs to place health at the centre of its development. The struggle is not about a patent or two. It is about the health of a nation where a majority of people have no health care. In 2020, the average Indian will be 29 years old. In the same period, an estimated hundred million Indians will be diagnosed with a type of diabetes. And this is only one disease.
