It’s all relatives

Jan Shikshan Sansthans are district-level resource support agencies aimed at imparting skill development and vocational training. They have the potential to transform the life chances of target groups, including the newly literate, given that the programme dates back to 1967, when they were launched as Shramik Vidyapeeths, and each centre receives substantial grants from the government: by today's budgets, up to Rs 50 lakh for recurring and non-recurring expenditure, in addition to a one-off Rs 20 lakh building grant.
