The Janata Dal (United) on Saturday drastically upped its ante against Gujarat CM Narendra Modi's projection as the NDA's prime ministerial candidate by sharply criticizing his handling of the 2002 riots, but gave its partner BJP a liberal timeframe — till the end of the year — to reveal its hand on the leadership issue.
