Narendra Modi as a 'backward leader', Nitish Kumar as an upper caste 'hero'

In the ironic ways politics works, should it come to the JD(U) and BJP parting ways in Bihar, the BJP believes that if Nitish Kumar has the development card, they have another potent one: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's caste. Or, specifically, the fact that Modi belongs to the "ati-pichhda (Extremely Backward)" class — believed to be a Nitish vote bank.
