The Gandhian slip

Rahul Gandhi's recent speech at a CII event was supposed to be his launching pad for the country's prime job. But it seems his party was more embarrassed by his mistakes than his well-rehearsed pronouncements. For one who traces his claim to fame from his great-grandfather onwards, the ignorance displayed about India's history was phenomenal. The great-grandson of the author of The Discovery of India seemed to have no idea of what the prosperity of India was till the middle of the 18th century.
