Narendra Modi to be BJP's mascot

Will the BJP be better off projecting Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate? The question is best answered if it's viewed through the prism of the number of seats Modi can help the party win in the 2014 elections. Those opposed to him argue that the Gujarat CM can't help the party realize the elusive goal of Hindu consolidation. Besides, his projection for the big job may force Muslims to embrace Congress, the biggest of all "secular" formations and, therefore, the best equipped to thwart Modi's ascendancy to the gaddi in Delhi.
