After a lull, tussle between CPM's Prakash Karat and Sitaram Yechury resurfaces
In a recent interview to The Economic Times, author Salman Rushdie summed up the agony of the global Left movement with a tinge of magical realism: "If they're given hundred hours, they fight each other for 90 hours, make love for eight hours and fight world capitalism for the remaining two hours." Except for making love, the rest could be true of any Left party in India, including the biggest constituent, the CPM. Well, its leaders are not known to air their differences with comrades in public. In fact, they often do it only within their badly lit rooms in poorly furnished offices.
