To assume that a high-end undergraduate degree, aiming at global benchmarking and a stream that allows students to drop out after two or three years, should be one integrated programme is to live in a pedagogic fantasy land: it risks diminishing the standards for real honours students and leaving behind those who are not inclined to be challenged.
