Under-fire rail minister Pawan Kumar Bansal resigns: TV reports

Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, under a cloud over his nephew's alleged involvement in bribery for a plum railway board posting, resigned on Friday evening, according to media reports. Reportedly, he has sent his resignation to the Prime Minister. According to reports, UPA chief Sonia Gandhi had asked the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to seek Bansal's resignation today. Bansal had not attended the office till Friday afternoon. He came to the office in the evening to clear official files, according to reports.
