The Li effect: India and China have acknowledged their differences, a start towards resolving them
We had opined, on the eve of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's visit to India, that a new generation coming to power in Beijing provides a significant opportunity to New Delhi to resolve outstanding issues and reboot the vexed India-China relationship. Some of that optimism is borne out by Premier Li's visit, as his affable persona helped establish a positive connect between the two sides. What's most encouraging, in the wake of the recent border stand-off in Ladakh, is that border negotiations have been fast-tracked and special representatives from both sides will be meeting in six weeks.
