Making sense of Premier Li Keqiang’s India tour

Premier Li Keqiang's visit has gone off about as well as could have been expected. Li is an open and gregarious man. Personal warmth is helpful in easing tensions among the leaders when they meet. That said, the two big issues causing tension between India and China do not have an easy solution and cannot be solved overnight - the unresolved border conflict and India's growing trade deficit with China.
