Bridging the soldier-scholar divide

Last month, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh laid the foundation for the nation’s first defence university at Binola in Gurgaon which is expected to be fully operational by 2018. Dr. Singh expressed his hope that when completed, the Indian National Defence University (INDU) “will become [a] world class institution of higher defence studies in which we will be able to take justifiable pride.”
