Being ready for any eventuality

The single-most important challenge for new Defence Research and Development Organisation chief Avinash Chandra, a missile expert, will be to develop a long-range land attack cruise missile to match Pakistan’s game-changer Babur LACM. This will also establish Mr Chandra as different from his predecessor, Mr VK Saraswat, who could not do so with his indigenous Nirbhay long-range LACM, which failed the test-firing on March 12, 2013.
