The US may have got election forecasting down to a fine art but back home the math is often wrong. Sunday Times finds out why it's so difficult to call an Indian election. Do Americans really need to bother voting? For six months before the 2012 US Presidential elections, right up to the very morning of E-day , statistician Nate Silver wrote repeatedly that the election was not close, and that the incumbent was a sure winner.
