Narendra Modi’s appointment as the head of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election campaign committee virtually sets the stage for the Gujarat Chief Minister’s projection as the party’s prime ministerial face for the Lok Sabha election scheduled next year. Of course, heading the campaign does not automatically qualify one for Prime Ministership; for instance, BJP campaigns were headed by Pramod Mahajan and Arun Jaitley earlier.
