Coal price pass through

The pass through mechanism of higher coal prices approved by the government on Friday seems more a triumph of expectations than of current realities. What the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has cleared is coal linkage for 78,000 MW of power projects at an assured supply level of 65 per cent in the first two years climbing to 75 per cent by FY'17.
