Put officer back on '06-09 Coalgate probe, SC tells CBI

The Supreme Court on Wednesday took exception to a CBI officer being taken off the investigation into the allocation of coal blocks during the period when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh held the charge of the portfolio. The court, which had earlier frowned upon the same officer, Ravi Kant, being allowed to shift to the IB, said that the Odisha-cadreIPS officer must immediately be made part of the probe team dealing with the allocation of coal blocks between 2006 and 2009.
