UP anti-reservation agitation is likely to snowball

It was a well-calculated move when the Samajwadi Party decided to oppose ‘reservation in promotion’. The Bill was brought in Rajya Sabha on the insistence of the Bahujan Samaj Party and was passed by an overwhelming majority in December last. Opposing the Bill, a Samajwadi Party member had even torn the Bill on the floor of the House, an act which though it drew sharp criticism, also won the hearts of the upper caste youth.
