New State pledge stokes Vidarbha fire

As the ruling Congress at the Centre cleared the decks for the creation of Telangana State “within a definite time-frame”, leaders of different political parties from Vidarbha on Tuesday revived their clamour for a separate Statehood. A strong and long-time votary of the Vidarbha Statehood cause, former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Vilas Muttemwar was among the first of political leaders from the backward region to root for the formation of separate Vidarbha State.
